WAP is a communications protocol as well as an application environment. It is an open international standard for applications that use wireless communication. It is similar to the combination of HTML and HTTP, except that it is optimized for low bandwidth, low memory, and low display environments. WAP’s principal application is to enable access to the Internet from a mobile phone or PDA and is built on XML.
